Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu

Pick up from Nairobi hotel in the morning at around 0700hrs and drive to Samburu Game Reserve. Afternoon game-viewing drive in the stark countryside which is an amazing sanctuary for Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk, Elephant, Leopard, Lion, and other plains game. Meals and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp.

Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve

Depart for an early morning game-viewing drive returning for breakfast. The Samburu Game Reserve offers some of the finest game viewing opportunities. Rare animal species like the eland thrive and are in abundance in this region. Samburu is home to some fascinating wildlife, like the long necked gerenuk, which can reach a height of two metres by standing on its hind legs and elongating its neck. This is also our best chance to see the blue-legged Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, the long-necked Gerenuk gazelle and the straight-horned Beisa Oryx antelope. Lunch is followed by another game –viewing drive returning for dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp.

Day 3: Samburu to Aberdares

After a hearty breakfast, depart for Aberdare Country Club to arrive in time for lunch. After lunch, we leave our main luggage at the base hotel and continue with just our overnight bags to one of the famous “tree hotels “deep in the Aberdares Forest. A special feature of the lodge where we stay is the floodlit watering hole where we can watch from the lodge itself throughout the night as the animals come down to drink. In the morning we hope to have spectacular views towards jagged outline of Mount Kenya. Dinner and overnight at the Ark.

Day 4: Aberdares to Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its seasonal pink flamingos and other aquatic birds. As well as seeing many large game animals such as Zebras, and gazelles, this is one of our best chances of seeing rhinos. Lake Nakuru National Park was the first place in Kenya selected as a rhino reserve. Here is one of the few places where we can see Rothschild’s giraffes. Meals and overnight at the Flamingo Hill Tented Camp.

Day 5 : Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara

Drive via the Great Rift Valley to Masai Mara Game Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game drives in Masai Mara Game Reserve as per our convenience. Masai Mara Game Reserve is one of the best National Reserves in Africa and offers superb game viewing opportunities throughout the year. Meals and overnight at Mara Leisure Camp or similar.

Day 6: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Spend the full day exploring Masai Mara in search of the Big Five. Over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. We will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, elephants, and many kinds of antelopes. It is in the Mara that the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the great migration. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna – lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures. (Optional excursions available: hot air balloon or visit a Masai tribal village). Meals and overnight at Mara Leisure Camp or similar.

Day 7: Departure day

Early pre -breakfast game viewing drive in search of the predators and grazers. Check out, proceed to Nairobi, and then later transfer to the airport for our outbound flight.
