Tour Highlights

Nairobi/ Samburu/ Marsabit/ Chalbi Desert/ Sibiloi National Park/ Lake Turkana/ Maralal/ Lake Baringo/ Lake Bogoria/ Lake Nakuru/ Lake Naivasha

We’ll head away from the tourist hotspots and into the seldom visited northern regions on this culture and wildlife holiday. Here you’ll be able to appreciate the true diversity of the country’s peoples and landscapes as you travel through a terrain that varies from parched desert to thick forest, and meet a variety of ethnic groups, from the Samburu to the Rendille. You’ll meet some of the nomadic tribes that live in Samburu, and go on morning and afternoon game drives, where you’ll see herds of elephant, crocodiles and perhaps even lions, cheetahs or leopards.

Other highlights include the lush oasis of Marsabit National Park, the otherworldly Chalbi Desert, where you’ll encounter nomadic Rendille warriors, and the remote and wild plains of Sibiloi National Park. Perhaps the most impressive sight, though, is Lake Turkana. The world’s largest desert lake, it’s a startling blue-green presence in the surrounding arid landscape, where the El Molo tribe make their home and hippos and crocodiles lurk in the waters.
